Every vet on Petolina meets the same baseline. We verify before your listing goes live.

  • Active veterinary licence in at least one Canadian province or territory
  • 3+ years of clinical experience
  • Current professional malpractice / liability insurance (we ask for the certificate)
  • Government-issued photo ID for identity verification
  • A device with a working camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection

Frequently asked

How and when do I get paid?+

Owners pay up front at booking. After each consult completes, your take-home lands in your Stripe Express balance. Choose daily auto-payouts to your bank, manual payouts, or instant deposit (~1% Stripe fee). Stripe issues you a year-end T4A-equivalent summary; you file as a self-employed professional. Specific fee details are in your vet terms.

Can I work across more than one province?+

Yes. List every province or territory where you hold a current licence — we'll only show your profile to owners in matching jurisdictions and enforce that boundary on every booking, including any auto-refill prescriptions.

What about VCPR and controlled substances?+

We follow each province's rules on when a valid Veterinarian–Client–Patient Relationship can be established by telemedicine. Controlled substances and any prescription requiring in-person VCPR are out of scope — refer the owner to a local clinic and we'll surface the nearest options.

Can I keep my clinic job?+

Yes. You're an independent provider on Petolina, not an employee. Many of our vets work full-time clinically and take Petolina consults in evenings or on weekends.

What if a consult turns into an emergency?+

Tell the owner immediately, end the consult, and refer to a 24-hour clinic. We refund the unused portion of the consult automatically when you flag it as escalated to in-person care.

Do I need to carry malpractice insurance?+

Yes. Your provincial association will already require it for clinical practice — we verify the policy is current before your listing goes live. You remain solely responsible for the clinical care you provide.

How private are consult records?+

Records are visible only to you and the owner who booked the consult. Our infrastructure is hosted in Canada and we comply with PIPEDA. We never sell or share veterinary records, and you can request deletion of your own data when you leave the platform.

What if I want to leave?+

Deactivate your listing any time from your profile. Existing confirmed bookings are honoured or refunded by our standard policy. Your past consult records stay accessible to the owners they belong to.
